A Journey to the Land of the Rising Sun

August 30, 2013 was a very special day because it’s the day that I met Spencer over a nearly five hour phone call, and it also happened to be the day before his 40th birthday. So, to celebrate his big birthday this year, and our 10-year “not-really-our-anniversary” (as he likes to call it), we toured the majestic country of Japan which has been on his bucket list ever since his art school days. I’ve traveled to many places in the world, but Japan is sure to remain in my heart as one of the greatest trips of my life. Over the next handful of posts, I’ll share all about our 10-day journey to this enchanting land of the rising sun. Travel teaches you things.

The whole of Japan is a pure invention. There is no such country, there are no such people. The Japanese people are simply a mode of style, an exquisite fancy of art.
